Varsity Exclusive Tour of new Cambridge nightclub, Lola Lo
Varsity gains a sneak preview of the newest member of the Cambridge nightlife scene and unveils an exclusive weekly entry offer for Varsity readers
Since Soultree closed its doors in late January, Cambridge has been awash with rumours of what would replace it. News broke early of a beach-themed nightclub but Varsity has gained unparalleled access and can now exclusively reveal what’s in store for revellers at Thursday’s preview night.
With venues in Norwich, Oxford and Brighton, Eclectic Bars have spared no expense on the latest member of the Lola Lo family in an attempt to promote the Cambridge branch as the franchise’s flagship.
The venue
Lola Lo is spread over three floors.
A beach-bar area playing classic Cambridge crowd-pleasing cheese.
A lit-up dancefloor upstairs playing an eclectic alternative mix for the less traditional Cantab club-goer with big names from the Brighton DJ circuit lined-up.
A rooftop smoking area complete with bar, ambient LED heat lamps, sofa areas and a mock starry sky.
The drinks
During the last-minute preparations, the bar team is undergoing the final stages of training to whip up trademark Lola Lo cocktails – served in coconuts and Tikis – at exclusive student prices.
The night to be seen there
Lola Lo will be competeing with Fuzzy Logic at The Place in a bid to be the new Thursday night haunt for students.
For the next two weeks, Let’s Kill Disco will be open to Town and Gown alike. But as soon as the end of exam term allows the student population to abandon its books for some bevs, Thursdays at Lola Lo will be exclusively for holders of a University of Cambridge ID.
The exclusive Varsity entry fee
Varsity readers are being offered an exclusive entry price of only £2.50 every Thursday. No need to cut the pre-lash short - it’s valid until midnight!
If the paradise-themed décor, playlist promises and cheap drinks haven’t already tempted you through the door, just remember that from now on your Thursday nights start here with your exclusive Varsity entry deal.
