Apply to be Editor of Varsity in Michaelmas 2020
Applications will be open until Thursday 18th June
Applications to be Varsity’s Editor for Michaelmas Term are now open.
This is your opportunity to take the lead at Cambridge’s only independent student newspaper, shedding light on the student experience and keeping the Cambridge community informed at a time of change and uncertainty.
You will manage a team producing online content over the summer, with an expected return to weekly print editions at the beginning of Michaelmas term. We hope to see ideas about how you would manage the team flexibly and respond to shifting circumstances with the ongoing Covid-19 situation, and prioritise recruiting new writers and team members out of this year’s cohort of incoming students.
Applications can be made solo or as a pair. No previous experience at Varsity is required for the role. All students who are passionate about journalism, coupled with an eye for layout and design and experience with InDesign are encouraged to apply.
More instructions for how to apply can be found here (PDF download). The deadline for applications is midday, Thursday 18th June 2020. Interviews will take place online on the morning of either the 22nd or 23rd June 2020.
If you have any questions about the application, please direct them to Catherine Lally, the Varsity Society president at president@varsity.co.uk, while questions about the role can be sent to the current editors, Gabriel Humphreys and Caterina Bragoli at editor@varsity.co.uk.
Applications for other roles on the Michaelmas team will open once the Editor has been appointed.
