Mill Road named most dangerous road in Cambridge
Data from Cambridgeshire Police named it as the worst-affected single road for injuries over the past three years
Mill Road is the most dangerous road in Cambridge, according to police data.
A Freedom of Information (FOI) request has revealed that almost 900 injury-causing crashes involving drivers and cyclists have been reported to Cambridgeshire Police over the last three years, with Mill Road seeing the highest number of incidents.
A total of 860 incidents were reported between January 1, 2019 and October 15, 2021.
Numbers were highest in 2019, with 400 incidents reported to the police, falling to 266 in 2020 and 194 in 2021.
The data, which includes crashes involving both drivers and cyclists, shows that Cambridge is the worst-affected area in the wider Cambridgeshire region.
Furthermore, data shows that 223 cyclists were ‘seriously injured’ in road traffic incidents over the three year period.
The FOI request was submitted by electric bike company Avaris eBikes, as part of their research into road safety.
Mill Road remains a popular spot for Cambridge students, with several college accommodation sites located close by.
