A monkey human hybrid has been sighted prowling the streets of Cambridge, with a one student being left petrified by its presence.

Multiple witnesses have reported seeing a “monkey-like being” parading the neighbourhood of Arbury on all fours. The beast was first sighted in late October, then again by a Cambridge student last Monday (16/12).

History student Rosie Petifer described seeing the ape after late at night on a local Facebook group, stating: “I shit you not I saw a massive monkey thing running on all fours into the trees near the skate park?!”

Petifer’s account was then corroborated by Cambridge resident Antony Chittenden, who described having seen an “ape-like creature” with “hairy and long arms” near a local community centre.

Both Petifer and Chittenden were accused of being under the influence of illicit substances during the ordeal, with one commenter recommending that Chittenden “wait for the acid to wear off”.

Both of them have denied these allegations, with Petifer clarifying that she was “depressingly sober” at the time.

The two survivors’ accounts did differ on the size of the monkey however. Petifer described the beast as measuring up at 6ft, which is roughly the same as a western lowland gorilla. Meanwhile, Chittenden claimed that the creature was “shorter than a normal man,” likening it to an ape.

Neither witness was able to get a photo of the monkey, and there has been no confirmation of whether it is still haunting the residents of Arbury

This comes after Varsity revealed that the University of Cambridge carried out the highest number of research procedures on animals of any institution that publishes figures, including 51 on primates.

The University holds around 250 non human primates for research purposes.

Reflecting on the experience, Petifer told the Daily Star: “I’ve not heard of anything like that before but after posting on the Facebook group it seems there have been other sightings! It seemed at the moment to be easily 6ft though was on all fours and to be honest as a young woman walking in the dark I was really quite scared!”.

“It wasn’t a muntjac or anything similar for definite I really could not pinpoint what it was other than a monkey like creature!” she added.
