Dominique Strauss-Kahn, former head of IMF, headlines an impressive Union termcard.

Cambridge Union released their full termcard today revealing a diverse and packed Lent term line-up.

Among the line-up is the controversial Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former head of the IMF who was arrested in May last year over allegations that he sexually assaulted a hotel maid.

He has recently had to face further press scrutiny after phone records showed that he had been sleeping with prostitutes.

Former foreign secretary and Labour MP David Miliband will be speaking on the 1st February while Ian Paisley will speak a week later after cancelling his talk last term.

Other speakers include popular American talk-show host Jerry Springer, comedian and impressionist Jon Culshaw, and composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim who has written the lyrics for West Side Story and composed Sweeney Todd among other stage and film productions.

Jerry Springer starts off a strong week 8

Week 8 of Lent term in particular will catch the eyes of many with Jerry Springer, Dominique Strauss-Kahn and Stephen Sondheim all speaking on successive days.

As well as the usual Footlights Comedy debate, the Union will also play host to other debates such as ‘This House believes the only limit to female success is female ambition’ where model Katie Price will debate on side of the opposition, and ‘This House believes the Arab Spring is a threat to global stability’.

The first debate of term taking place this Thursday is ‘This House believes the Conservatives have been unfairly demonised’
