Fez hit by armed robbery
Police appeal for information after thief takes cash from night club staff in raid on Wednesday morning

Staff at Cambridge's Fez were threatened by a man wearing a balaclava in a chilling raid at 5am on Wednesday morning.
The armed robber interrupted staff while they were dealing with early morning deliveries. The man took an undisclosed amount of cash and then escaped in the direction of Market Street, away from the club on Market Passage.
Police have launched a manhunt for the robber, described as around 5ft 10 tall and of medium build, who was said to have been wearing dark clothing at the time of the robbery.
Cambridgeshire Police Detective Inspector Mark Newman, said: "I would ask people who may have seen this incident this morning or has any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact police.”
"We have officers in the area hunting for this man and are doing everything we can to find him."
Fez is owned by the club and bar firm Eclectic, also the owner of the Lola Lo brand of venues. In a statement their chief executive said: "The most important aspect of this unfortunate incident is that none of our staff were injured."
"I would like to commend them for the manner in which they dealt with what was a harrowing and upsetting experience. We are doing everything we can to assist the police with their enquiries and would repeat their request for anyone who has any information to contact them".
George Johnson, 2nd year and JCR Ents Officer at Peterhouse, said he was saddened by the news but not too surprised. He told Varsity: "Cambridge is typically a safe place but a theft doesn't shock me all that much. If it was a theft with a chainsaw, however, I would be shocked thoroughly!"

Opened in 1998, Fez describes itself as “renowned amongst Cambridge's glitterati, for being the intimate Moroccan themed venue that has showcased the World's most prolific DJ talent”.
Cambridgeshire Police ask for anyone with information to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
