Prince William to study at Cambridge
The Duke of Cambridge is to begin an agricultural studies course at the University of Cambridge, Kensington Palace has announced

It has been announced today that Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, is to begin a 10-week course of studies in agricultural management at the University of Cambridge. He will be undertaking a custom-designed course with the Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership (CPSL) - part of the School of Technology, which has Prince William's father, Prince Charles, as its patron.
Beginning next week, the Duke of Cambridge will become a full-time student, and will learn about the management of agricultural land, properties and investments. It is thought that this is intended to give him a grounding in the management of large estates such as the Duchy of Cornwall, currently under Prince Charles's control, which it is thought will pass to Prince William for management when his father becomes king.
In a statement released today, a Kensington Palace spokesman said that the Duke is "very much looking forward to it".
Kensington Palace added: "The executive education programme of seminars, lectures and meetings will draw on the strengths of academics across the university. It will start in early January and run until mid-March.
"The course has been designed to help provide the Duke with an understanding of contemporary issues affecting agricultural business and rural communities in the United Kingdom."
The Duke is expected to live in Cambridge for the duration of his studies, whilst he is being funded privately. The course will not result in a qualification, but will consist of a form of continual assessment. Prince William will have an estimated 18 to 20 hours of lectures, seminars and supervisions each week, and will produce essays.
Prince William is likely to continue with royal engagements during the course of his studies, as he continues to be groomed for the throne. This comes as Prince William makes his transition into a more public role following the completion of his three-year position in the RAF.
Speaking to Varsity a University spokesperson said, "It is excellent news that the Duke of Cambridge will be following a Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership programme and we look forward to hosting him."
