Amid discussion about porn filters, the latest figures released by Pornhub reveal that Cambridge is ranked near the top in the UK for visits to the pornographic website.

According to data published through The Guardian, Cambridge ranks sixteenth in the UK for the number of views – beating its oldest of rivals, Oxford, by nearly 400,00 views. While this does not necessarily represent traffic to all pornographic websites, it serves as a good indication of trends across the UK. 

During the last year, there were 1.39 million registered visits to the website from Cambridge. In comparison, the official UK government webpages receive an average of 1.4 million hits each year from across the UK.

The information released by Pornhub goes much further than the number of visits. People in Cambridge spend an average of 9 minutes and 50 seconds on the website, which is nearly a minute higher than the world average of 8 minutes and 56 seconds. What this says about people in Cambridge remains open to interpretation.

Furthermore, Cambridge-based Pornhub viewers opened on average 6.84 different pages on the website each time they visited. 

The data also reveals trends in the tastes of Pornhub-users: the most-searched terms in the UK were "British", the American pornographic actress "Lisa Ann" and "Lesbian". Mondays in January appear to be the most popular days for British users to indulge themselves on the website – perhaps in an attempt to shake off the post-New Year blues.
