Goofy and majestic encapsulatedSam Grabiner

Sum up the show in three, non-bird-related words.

Goofy and majestic.

Is the show inspired by pelicans in general or by one specific, really great pelican?

It’s actually inspired by other shows we’ve seen in Cambridge, but hopefully it will inspire pelicans.

Is four the perfect number for a sketch group?

No, three is probably better.

Have you always been comedians? How old were you when you made your first joke?

Jordan made up this joke when he was 6 or 7:

What do you get when you cross a crab with a frog?

A Kermit crab.

Are the subjects you study reflected in the show?

Yes. Guy and Jordan study HSPS, and our last show was reviewed as dealing with ‘neo-colonialist themes and the western condescension of tribal people’, which is a huge theme in anthropology (although not that huge in our show).

There’s also Theo’s Bio-Natsci inspired ‘dictyostelium slime mould song’, which is a 15-minute observational monologue about multi-celled eukaryotic life, put to music.

Who’s your ideal audience member?

Hollywood agents, so we can break the big time.

And your nightmare audience member?

Oxford kNob’EdS!!!

Should I take my grandmother?

Yes, the more the merrier!

Should I take a date?

That depends on whether or not you take your grandmother.

I’m scared of birds, will I still enjoy Pelican?

Yes. Although you may have trouble getting to the theatre.

Pelican is showing at the Corpus Playroom from Tuesday 21st- Saturday 25th October.
