Selwyn opens applications for £12,000-a-year salad chef

Romaine calm. Selwyn is seeking its first dedicated salad chef.

Violet has been leafing through the job description prepared by the college, encouraging applicants with “creative flair” who can create a salad section using “colour, texture and a variety of ingredients.”

The chosen candidate will receive pay of around £12,000 a year for the part-time position, amounting to a salary of £8.70 per hour.

Working alongside all the section chefs and reporting to the executive head chef, the role requires an extensive list of skills and comes with an eleven-page application form.

“The successful person will be expected to continually suggest and trial new dishes for function menus and in the Servery,” it said.

“The College is looking for a team player, with previous catering experience, who has creative flair and who is passionate about food. Good organisational, time management, communication and planning skills are also essential.”
