To misquote Hugh Grant, “If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that CUSU actually is all around”. All around Facebook, that is, campaigning for the new CUSU and GU merger.

If you’ve had your head under a rock and haven’t seen all the posts, or if you’re still confused about what CUSU actually is, then fear not. In this latest installment, CUSU has taken its campaigning to a level that everyone can relate to: Christmas movies.

With Bridgemas just around the corner, who hasn’t been spending every other evening trawling through Netflix looking for new (or classic) Christmas movies to watch? It’s honestly hard not to be overwhelmed by the choices — from a new royal baby to a time-travelling knight.

But now, thanks to New-Su Actually, you don’t have to look any further than Edward Parker-Humphreys Facebook account – Bridgemas come early for the unlucky few without a Netflix subscription.

The CUSU President appears in a parody of the classic placard-scene to spread a message of seasonal cheer and festive joy: “I really need you to vote yes in this fucking referendum”. Ah, the Christmas spirit.

With breakout performances from Parker-Humphreys, Lily Rose Sharry and Kate Litman, this film is sure to be a Box Office success* (*reach 100 likes on Facebook).

And the reviews are in, with critics describing the film as “steamy”, “genius” and “one of the best things I’ve ever seen”.

When life imitates Brexit

With any luck, when the time comes for the CUSU sabbatical team to move into the “real” world, there’ll be talent scouts waiting to welcome them into Hollywood stardom. At the very least they can snag a much sought-after CamDram credit before leaving (otherwise known as Cambridge’s IMDb).

But if, like Scrooge, you’re not a fan of Christmas and this hasn’t done it for you, then the college with the most votes gets a free pizza party. Merry Bridgemas indeed!
