Jane on Josh:

What were you hoping for?

We strangely had a lot in commonErika Bunjevac for Varsity

I was excited to meet new people and try something new! I didn’t really go into it with any expectations, I was just excited to chat with somebody.

So, you guys met at the Punter, what were the vibes like?

The Punter was new for me, so it was nice, but also had a formal vibe. We had a good chat, and it was a nice environment.

What were your first impressions?

He was lovely, easy to talk to, and very charming and sweet.

What did you guys talk about? Did you have much in common?

We spoke a lot about music and our degrees. Also cats!

“I was probably a bit hyper”

Were there any awkward moments?

Not really it went quite smoothly, we filled the gaps with good conversation!

How would you describe Josh in three words?

Friendly, sweet and intelligent.

What do you think Josh thought of you?

At the time I was probably a bit hyper, but hopefully he thought I was nice and chatty!

Would you see Josh again?

Yes, probably more as a friend. He’s in a band, and we did speak about going to one of the gigs which is nice.

What would you rate the date out of ten?

Seven.

If you could change anything about the evening, what would it be?

Probably me being a bit calmer, but other than that it was great!

Josh on Jane:

What were you hoping for?

I just wanted to meet someone new and have a good chat. I enjoy meeting new people, so my expectations were pretty low.

So, you guys met at the Punter, what were the vibes like?

We stayed there for two hours and it was really nice. We sat outside for a bit then moved inside when it got colder. And there was enough space between the tables to mean it felt private and not too loud.

Did the date meet your expectations?

It was much better than I was expecting! I was shocked that we got along so well.

What were your first impressions?

Once we started chatting, she was very smiley, a good conversationalist, like when I couldn’t think of something to say she immediately came up with something really good to say or a follow-up to what I had said.

What did you guys talk about? Did you have much in common?

We had so much in common – it was slightly weird! Interests, music, hobbies… we even spoke about our ideal number of pets and it was the same! We spoke about literature, and how I bought ‘Wuthering Heights’ because I love Kate Bush’s song, and it turned out that it was her favourite Kate Bush song, too!

“I bought ‘Wuthering Heights’ because I love Kate Bush’s song, and it turned out that it was her favourite Kate Bush song, too!”

Were there any awkward moments?

I was going to wait for her at the bar but the waiters told me to sit down, and it turned out they had said the same to her! So, once I had found her, we got back up and had to go back to the bar to get a drink.

How would you describe Jane in three words?

Open-minded, friendly, gregarious.

What do you think Jane thought of you?

I’ve got no idea! From the conversations, it was obvious we got on quite well, but beyond that I don’t know.

Would you see Jane again?

Blind Date: ‘there was a power play with the heater’

Yeah, if she’s interested. Either romantically or platonically. We exchanged Instagrams. After our conversations about music I sent her a playlist. We ended up sort of inviting each other to events we’re going to casually, so we will see!

What would you rate the date out of ten?

Eight.
