Lucy Cav Hip-Hop Night (30th April)

If you find yourself yearning for a casual vibe, look no further than our very own Lucy Cavendish College’s student-led gig night! Taking on Hip-Hop, RnB, and pop, student performers will showcase their talents in a relaxed, stress-free environment. The line-up includes Aker Okoye and Corvus… - two superb acts who will be recalling countless current and nostalgic hits. The night ends with an open mic session, offering audience members the chance to give it their all. The perfect occasion for an evening out with friends.

Cambridge University Orchestra: Hadyn, Mozart and Rameau (4th May)

For all you classical fans out there, the university orchestra have scheduled their final performance of the year for May. During what will undoubtedly be a polished and refined evening, three pieces will be played: Haydn’s Sinfonia Concertante in B flat major, Mozart’s Symphony No. 36 in C major, K. 425 “Linz Symphony” and chosen movements of Rameau’s suite from Dardanus. Featuring current student instrumentalists and soloists, it is the perfect opportunity to witness the ongoing talent at Cambridge as they take the spotlight. Even better, student tickets are just £5!

What’s Love Got To Do With It? The Tina Turner Live Show (11th May)

Advertised as a tribute to one of the most successful and dynamic performers of the 20th century, What’s Love Got To Do With it? promises to be a nostalgic tour of the icon’s triumphs and tribulations. As you travel through the singer’s astonishing 60-year career, you are treated to unmistakeable throwback songs such as ‘The Best’, ‘Proud Mary’, ‘River Deep, Mountain High’ and her eponymous number one single. This roller coaster of fiery passion emulates the late singer herself. As we approach the first anniversary of her passing in May, why not celebrate her legacy whilst enjoying an excellent evening out?

The Cambridge Club Festival (7th-9th June)

The Cambridge Club Festival will undoubtedly be one to remember. Not only is Sunday headlined by RnB and funk legend Chaka Khan, but the festival also celebrates student musicians. Take It to the Bridge (the Centre for Music Performance’s competition for musicians within the university) winners Quasar will be taking the stage to bring you an interactive, awe-inspiring set that will leave you bursting with energy. Post-exams, this is the perfect environment in which to enjoy the summer weather and watch legends (both in the pop world and the university) at work.

How Cambridge’s queer music scene finally came out

As their final event of the year, Girton College is holding a “celebratory” evening designed for “all tastes”. Featuring a mixture of college ensembles and soloists, this is the ideal event at which to relax and unwind after weeks of academic stress. The Girton Music Society is dedicated to creating a vibrant atmosphere for students, whatever their musical preferences, so this event should provide a blazing finale to the year.
