Cambridge celebrates international nurses day
Social media posts thanked nurses for their work during the pandemic

The Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) NHS tweeted in celebration of the week between International Day of the Midwife (05/05) and International Nurses Day (12/05).
On Instagram, CUH marked the day with a series of posts containing quotes from their nurses. One nurse working in an acute oncology unity recalled “I am extremely proud of the way my whole team rallied together at the beginning of the pandemic.”
Meanwhile, one Kindbridge poster thanked “all the Addenbrookes A&E and ward N2 staff”. “You are all amazing and I feel so much better” they continued, “thank you for treating me and being so lovely and kind!!!”
International Nurses Day is celebrated every year on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, and has been celebrated since 1965. The significance of the event has been heightened due to the pandemic and the efforts of the NHS over the past year.
I’d like to thank nurses and healthcare workers who have been the bastion of our NHS.

Their response to the pandemic has been nothing short of extraordinary.
I'm delighted that their work has inspired others to step into the profession.
