It is a tough pre-season as the fans with PSG tickets anxiously look for their subsequent superstar signing.

The road has been challenging for Luis Enrique as he has navigated the club through a turbulent period.

Despite winning the Ligue 1 title, PSG is still trailing its European counterparts in terms of success. Those with PSG tickets have been anxiously waiting for a time when PSG becomes the best in Europe.

With their superstar player, Kylian Mbappe, also gone, those with PSG tickets are quite worried about their future.

But on the flip side, the club is now planning for the future, looking for prospective options that will carry the club forward. This forward-thinking approach, which considers a five-year plan, has gained the trust of the fans.

In line with that, PSG has now completed the signing of Benefica’s midfield João Neves.

Neves, 19, has signed a five-year deal with the Ligue 1 champions after passing a medical.

The Portugal international becomes PSG’s second summer signing following the arrival of Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov from Krasnodar.

The highly coveted Neves recently competed for his country at Euro 2024. He joins PSG for a reported fee of €60m ($64.9m) plus €10m in add-ons.

“It’s a fantastic project from a massive club. This is a young club with high aims, and I think that that way of thinking and trying to make the club stronger with young players is a great project. This club has high aims and already boasts several records,” he said.

Neves progressed through the youth ranks at Benfica before making his senior debut for the side in January 2023.

He made 55 appearances across all competitions for Benfica last season.

At PSG, Neves will join fellow Portuguese players Gonçalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Danilo Pereira.

“I obviously spoke to the Portuguese players and Ángel Di María, who told me a lot about the club. He said nothing but good things about it and that I would be happy here,” Neves said.

Meanwhile, Renato Sanches moved in the opposite direction, returning to Benfica on a season-long loan from PSG.

Benfica can complete a permanent transfer for the 26-year-old midfielder next summer.

A Portugal international, Sanches played on loan at Roma from PSG last season.

Sanches, whose contract with PSG expires in June 2027, came through the youth ranks at Benfica.

PSG Looking for Sancho?

Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have recently discussed midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

Although the two clubs’ valuations of the Uruguay international do not yet match, it has been an opportunity to discuss another player of interest to the French champions: Jadon Sancho.

The England international is back with the Red Devils after spending the second half of last season on loan with Borussia Dortmund. It was during that return to Signal Iduna Park that Les Parisiens took a shine to the 24-year-old as he helped the German outfit past PSG in the UEFA Champions League semifinals as part of BVB’s unexpected run to the Wembley Stadium final.

With Kylian Mbappe now gone, Paris and Parc des Princes could become a permanent home for Sancho. And those with PSG tickets think Sancho will be the next Parisian superstar.

PSG held initial talks with Manchester United over the signing of Jadon Sancho and discussions over the conditions of a potential deal. Sancho could be open to moving, and personal terms are not expected to be a problem.

Sancho is primarily a wide player who spends more time on the right than the left. Although he can play both, PSG will logically have him pegged for a right-sided berth, which makes sense given Ousmane Dembele’s gradual transition into a more central creative role.

With Mbappe gone, there will be greater flexibility in an attack featuring Dembele and Bradley Barcola, Goncalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani, Marco Asensio, and occasionally Kang-in Lee.

Sancho would ensure at least two players per position across the attack, depending on whether it is a straight three-person attack or one creator behind two more advanced central attackers. PSG had been looking at Atletico Madrid-bound Julian Alvarez of Manchester City with one of those roles in mind.

Coming in as a right-sider, Sancho poses little of a direct threat to anybody in the starting XI’s attack, assuming that Dembele’s move infield becomes permanent.

In that case, PSG will look at an approximate 4-2-3-1 setup with Ramos at the tip, Barcola on the left, Dembele behind the Portuguese attacker, and Sancho on the right.

That creates a midfield rotation between Vitinha, Warren Zaire-Emery, and Fabian Ruiz, which newcomers Joao Neves and Gabriel Moscardo need to try to break into.

Once Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes are operational, it also creates the opportunity to go with three advanced attackers with one central attacking midfielder, which is a more attacking version of the 4-2-3-1 with the wide men pushed further forward.

Should Luis Enrique bet set for the new season with that current attacking assortment, then his options are logical in that he will have more or less depth in each area and competition for starting places without the dominance exercised by Mbappe during the Spaniard’s debut term.

In that group, there is a blend of wide and central attacking quality with creative elements and a balanced midfield, which will be very much to Luis Enrique’s liking with Joao Neves and Gabriel Moscardo instead of Ugarte.

The Use of Ugarte

An underrated aspect of PSG’s interest in Sancho is that it keeps the Ligue 1 giants and United in conversation, which means that Ugarte is not totally off the table.

The Uruguayan needs to be moved on, and the Englishman could essentially be part of a swap between the two clubs. This would see far less money changing hands than would have been the case if it was just a one-off inquiry about one or the other, which was the source of the issues regarding the South American — PSG’s asking price.

Super Star Sancho

Those with PSG tickets are looking for their next superstar. Ousmane Dembele is set to be one of the names that the French will rally around, but PSG needs more than Dembele.

And the club understands that the Englishman possesses a star appeal.

Although Mbappe and Sancho are at different levels regarding superstardom, the England star would add to the curiosity factor around Le Championnat, which has added some exciting names already this summer.

It also gives Les Parisiens a different appeal and potentially opens the club back to an English-speaking audience after a relatively inaccessible period for those support bases regarding player profiles.

The fans with PSG tickets wait Manchester United’s decision.
